Muscle Car/Street Rod Application

Thank you for choosing the “NEW” STS HP model baffles for your street rod or muscle car application. These new sizes will work like the original 4.0″ corvette baffles that came out in 2001.

The shorter sizes will make it easy to install on you hotrod. The 2.25″ and the 2.50″ diameter baffles are 8.0″ long. the 3.0″, 3.50″, and 4.0″ baffles are 12.0″ long. they are still “tunable” like the longer models, but being shorter, they are mainly for performance. Applications for the street rods, using the STS baffles, eliminates bulky mufflers, and being the same size as the exhaust pipe they simply slip in and bolt to your exhaust pipe. Easy in and easy out. All of the street rod applications so far, have proven that if the baffles are placed at the end of the exhaust pipe at the rear of the car (about 6.0″ in from the end, space permitting), the sound goes out the back and not up into the cabin of the street rod. Resonance is all but gone. However keep in mind that there are always exceptions.

Something else to keep in mind is the power of your car. Example: 600 flywheel HP will equal approximately 485-500 RWHP. Running 2.25″ diameter pipes would not be the correct choice. 2.50″ or 3.0″ pipes and STS baffles will handle 400 or so HP just fine. The higher the HP, the more you must move up to the bigger sizes. Again this depends on the exhaust pipe size. Applications for muscle cars is basically the same as for street rods. The baffles work best at the rear of the car. The only dual application so far has been a 55 chevy nomad wit an LS1 motor. We installed a set at the back and ran sound tests at idle and about 2000 RPM’s. Then we test drove for interior sound levels. It was louder than usual, but not overly. The car outside sounded great. What we arrived at was there was so much open space inside because of the car being a wagon that we installed another set of 2.5″ baffles up towards the collectors. We test drove it again and saw a large difference. This however, is an exception not the rule.

In closing, enjoy your STS baffles on your street rod or muscle car. Make sure to read the directions carefully. We have tested these baffles under certain conditions. Any changes will alter the outcome.

Thanks! JCL
